Scott Gallas says retention is essential to keep crews staffed and versatile. “I think if we’re going to have any kind of longevity in a career like this, it’s important to take of ourselves,” said Sgt. Gallas. “This is something that’s kind of a new development for me in my career, but the department is doing a pretty good job of hosting trainings and coming up with ideas like this.”
