Meet Matt, the O2X Tactical Athlete of the week.
A Firefighter in Denver, Colorado, Matt is dedicated to health and wellness and serves as an inspiration for others. His passion for excellence in fire and rescue within the community he serves, combined with his approach to a healthy lifestyle is what makes him our tactical athlete of the week. Here’s more from Matt:
What got you into your profession?
I’ve been a firefighter since 2003, first as a volunteer in a small mountain town and later for North Metro Fire Rescue in North suburbs of Denver, CO. Helping people in emergency situations feels like a calling. Being physical on the job is just a bonus. I come from an athletic background (most notably finishing 2nd place at the 2012 CrossFit Games) and the ability to do physical work where lives are often on the line is incredibly gratifying.
What motivates you?
I’m motivated by my brothers and sisters at the department who have years of knowledge and experience under their belts, yet carry themselves with a confident humbleness. I also love that this career allows us to dive in and become specialists in any one of a wide variety of areas. Always a place to learn and improve.
Know someone who we should feature as a tactical athlete of the week?
