Meet Phebe, the O2X Tactical Athlete of the week
A Firefighter in Washington, Phebe is dedicated to health and wellness and serves as an inspiration for others. A passion for excellence in fire and rescue, combined with an approach to a healthy lifestyle is what makes Phebe our tactical athlete of the week. Here’s more from Phebe:
What got you into your profession?
My name is Phebe. I am 26 years old and live in Kennewick, WA. I have always lived in Washington State and grew up in the Cascade Mountains with my parents and 10 siblings before moving to the Eastern part of the State.
I am currently a career Firefighter/EMT for the City of Richland and have worked for this department for over 6 years. I am married to my husband, Dylan, who is an Army Veteran and is now a Law Enforcement Officer for a local agency. The two of us have a 2-year old son, Jaxon.
Both my parents are nurses and I grew up in the medical field. At a young age, I knew I wanted to help and care for others. I got into the fire service when I was 16 years old (as a Seattle Fire Cadet) and immediately fell in love with the job. For me, this career allows me to help people every single day. I also thrive on being challenged, trouble-shooting problems, being able to make on-the-spot decisions, and working hard. Coming from a large family, I do well in the family-oriented feel of the fire service and value my “fire family” like my own.
What motivates you?
My faith: God is the reason I am here on earth and the One who protects and guides me.
My husband: Who is the supporter behind my adventurous spirit and the person who believes in everything I do.
My son: Who is the person who gives me purpose and I can’t wait to teach, be a role model for and to show the world to.
I am motivated to prepare/train for work for my own safety, to protect my community, to support my brothers/sisters, for health and for stress-control.
I am motivated for to climb mountains because of the unknown, the challenge, the thrill, and the indescribable beauty in this world.
