“I’m an Undersea Medical Officer which means I’m an MD and a Navy Diver combined into one."
Meet Mia: USN Undersea Medical Officer and this week's Featured Tactical Athlete
What got you into your profession?
I became a UMO because I love the diving community as it fits well into my active lifestyle. I also love preventative medicine and nutrition. I’m from Aurora Colorado originally and went to Boston College and majored in Biochemistry. I then went to USUHS the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Washington DC. I did internship in internal medicine in San Diego and then went to Dive School in Panama City FL.
What motivates you?
I stay motivated since I love competing in Crossfit and setting an example for my patients as well to live an active and challenging lifestyle.
