“Growing up in the fire service I got to see all the positives through my father. He inspired me with hard work as a firefighter."
Meet Eric: Firefighter and this week's Featured Tactical Athlete
What got you into you into your profession?
I am a second generation firefighter for the Winter Park (FL) Fire Department and currently assigned as a Lieutenant on Truck 61. I spent the majority of my 14 year career on the Truck Company and serve on the Winter Park Fire Department Technical Rescue Team. I’m is the owner of VentEnterSearch, LLC – a long time running firefighter blog and training company. I’m also an instructor for the Truck Company Operations and Special Operations programs at Valencia College’s Central Florida Fire Institute and have taught at many fire conferences across the country.
What motivates you?
Growing up in the fire service I got to see all the positives through my father. He inspired me with hard work as a firefighter. So naturally, the mental challenge and hands-on work appealed to me. I am motivated by my family and the drive to be the best firefighter I can be. Trying to set a healthy example for my wife and two kids by working hard, consistent training in our garage gym and maintaining a clean diet. No surprise, these few habits have a profound impact fire ground performance.
