Oceanside Police Department Launches Human Performance Program

Partners with O2X Human Performance and Building Homes for Heroes to optimize officer health and wellness
Oceanside, CA — On October 27th, 2026, the Oceanside Police Department (OPD) launched a comprehensive wellness program to address career longevity and occupational performance for law enforcement officers. Made possible with the support of Building Homes for Heroes, the program brings mental and physical performance-focused training directly to the department to help officers train properly and stay healthy.
The program is provided by O2X Human Performance, a Massachusetts-based training and education company that works with thousands of first responders and has designed programs for federal, state, and local agencies nationwide. O2X delivers state-of the-art training and education aimed specifically at helping tactical athletes finish their careers as strong as they started.
“Our officers dedicate themselves every day to protecting our community, and we have a responsibility to invest in their health, wellness, and long-term success. We’re grateful to Building Homes for Heroes for helping make this program possible, and we’re committed to ensuring our officers have the tools and resources they need to stay healthy, resilient, and ready to serve.” said Taurino Valdovinos, Chief of Police, Oceanside Police Department.
As tactical athletes, law enforcement officers risk their lives daily to keep the Oceanside community safe. They endure physical and mental stress throughout their careers that can have acute and cumulative impacts on their health. By partnering with O2X, the Oceanside Police Department is taking an important step in mitigating these occupational hazards and investing in the people who serve the city.
Through this partnership, OPD is launching the O2X Integrated Readiness Platform™ (IRP). The launch workshop equips OPD personnel with hands-on injury prevention, a baseline readiness assessment, and education in nutrition and sleep science — part of a curriculum that also spans conditioning, fatigue management, stress mitigation, sports psychology, and resilience.
“We’re excited to continue serving law enforcement in the state of California,” said Paul McCullough, Co-founder & Managing Partner at O2X Human Performance. “It’s important that the people on the front lines keep physical and mental wellness as a part of their daily lives. Our hope is that O2X, in conjunction with the department, can play a key role in keeping these first responders prepared to meet the demands of the job.”
