Gary Heron is an O2X On-Site Human Performance Specialist and Program Manager who specializes Strength and Conditioning for the City of Berkeley Public Safety. In this role, he oversees the city’s human performance program, delivering comprehensive training, resources, and strategies designed to equip public servants for success both on and off the job.With over 15 years of experience in the human performance field, Gary has held key leadership roles, including serving as the Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Apprenticeship Course under the United States Air Force’s Special Warfare Training Wing. Before that, he was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of California, Riverside, where his tenure was marked by multiple team and individual Big West Conference championships, a complete facility renovation, and the development of an internship program that produced strength coaches who now work across all levels of competitive sport. Gary has also worked in the private sector and served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.A native of Riverside, CA, Gary earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2007 and 2008, respectively. A self-described underachieving baseball player, his passion for sports and performance led him to pursue a career in strength and conditioning, where he remains deeply connected to competitive athletics.
