Marissa Rescott
Dr. Marissa Rescott PT, DPT, PhD is a sleep and pain educator as well as a human performance clinician who specializes in helping barbell athletes and runners perform at their best. Marissa competed in the 400m and 800m distances as a collegiate runner on the St. Lawrence University Track and Field team, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. After falling in love with CrossFit in 2013, she blended her love for neuroscience with her love of fitness in a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Ohio State University. As a clinician, Dr. Marissa has helped many Olympic, military, and tactical athletes, as well as recreational weekend warriors overcome physical performance barriers through a focus on recovery and intelligent strength programming. Marissa has also completed a PhD in cognitive (sleep) science and leads both sleep and musculoskeletal wellness trainings for small to medium sized organizations. She has aided the 62romeo nonprofit in developing their “Sleep 201” sleep optimization course for veterans and first responders, and believes that sleep is the most energy efficient tool we have to “work smarter, not harder.” Marissa is currently living in Virginia Beach, VA with her significant other, who is part of the US Naval Special Warfare community. In her spare time, you can find her lifting weights, rock climbing, snowboarding, or trail running with her vizsla, Daks.
