Ryan O’Connell is an O2X On-Site Human Performance Specialist who specializes in Strength & Conditioning with the 148th Air Support Operations Squadron. In this role, he leverages his expertise in strength and conditioning to optimize the performance and readiness of tactical athletes. With certifications as a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, Ryan is dedicated to supporting his clients in achieving peak physical performance.Before joining O2X, Ryan was a key contributor to the U.S. Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Program with the 18th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Bragg/Liberty, NC, from 2021 to 2023. During this time, he developed and implemented strength and conditioning programs at the Battery level and assisted in establishing the H2F Program for the brigade. Notably, he co-created the Steel Fitness Trainer (SFT) course, a four-day program designed to certify soldiers as H2F trainers by providing education on strength and conditioning fundamentals, energy systems development, and integrating the pillars of H2F, such as nutrition, injury prevention, and cognitive performance. Prior to his tactical coaching role, Ryan worked in the private sector at Athletes Arena in Columbia, SC, while interning at the University of South Carolina.Ryan discovered his passion for strength and conditioning during his service with the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, which inspired him to pursue a career in the field. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina, where he gained a solid foundation in human performance. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys coaching and competing in weightlifting, training in grappling and mixed martial arts, riding BMX, listening to heavy metal music, and exploring the outdoors. Committed to personal and professional growth, Ryan continually seeks opportunities to improve as a coach and individual.
